From Fr. Michael:
Bishop Doyle has asked us to pray for peace in these tumultuous days, and I commend to you these two prayers. We included them last Sunday and will continue to pray for peace with renewed intention and vigor.
Almighty God, kindle, we pray, in every heart the true love of peace, and guide with your wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth, that in tranquility your dominion may increase until the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Almighty God our heavenly Father, guide the nations of the world into the way of justice and truth, and establish among them that peace which is the fruit of righteousness, that they may become the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
***From Linda Myers, Sr. Warden regarding Diocesean Council:
There were-372lay delegates and 213 clergy in attendance.
No church failed to pay their Assessment in 2021.
The Diocese is very sound financially and debt free.
Bishop Doyle noted in his address that the diocese has grown from 160 to 236.
3 new churches were admitted to the diocese.
Our Diocese represents 0.25% of the population in our geographic area , but that our various ministries impact
14% of the population.
31% of the clergy is female; 9 % are people of color.
Most of the ministry in our diocese is done by lay workers.
We funded 18 college students by scholarship.
There are currently 20 seminarians & IONA enrollees.
Our Diocese is full of life and vitality and spirit.
**Masks were required in all sessions and meetings..**
Thank you Linda....
From Fr. Michael:
Your Regathering Committee met last evening. We are encouraged by the most recent Burnet County statistics. The positivity rate among those tested is currently 22%, down from 40% just a few weeks ago. As we approach our target rate of 10% (or less) we look forward to returning to in-person worship. Until that time we will keep you informed and continue to pray for an end to this pandemic. We invite your daily prayers for an end to the pandemic. This prayer is an amalgam of various sources online.
Almighty and merciful Father, you show your love to all creation. Humbly we ask for an eradication of the coronavirus. Calm our fears; give strength to those who support and care for others; grant healing to all suffering in mind, body and spirit, eternal life to the dead, and consolation to the bereaved. Inspire those who are working toward an end to this pandemic. Look lovingly upon us all, and in your mercy, forgive our failings. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
There is a meal served at the Burnet Senior Center on Wood Street at noon,
Monday through Friday. It is sponsored by"Opportunities for Williamson and Burnet Counties" More information can be found at https://www.owbc-tx.org/about-us/ This is done also by those that do "Meals onWheels". Pass this on to someone it might be of help to. It is also a good social activity.
