It's hard to believe that today is the one year anniversary of when the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 Pandemic. We have been separated so long. I hope that all of you are staying healthy and safe. Hopefully, you are about to receive or have received at least one of the vaccine shots.
From Fr. Michael: "Mae Gibson, a parishioner who has for some years been unable to join us on Sunday morning, died last Friday. I will officiate at a family-only graveside service for her this Saturday. Everett Holbrook, husband of Karen Holbrook who died a year and a half ago, has also died, on Wednesday morning, March 10. May their souls, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
"Bishop Doyle will make his official visitation to Epiphany on April 25. We may have news about a return to in-person worship in conjunction wit that. Read further E-Stars for updates."
I spoke with Patty Murray today. She is now recovering at home from her surgery. She has a follow-up appoint with her surgeon in Temple on Friday. Please keep her in your prayers for a full recovery. Also, she would like to thank her Epiphany family for bringing her food.
During Lend, please join us via Zoom each Wednesday at 6:00 pm (including Holy Week) for our Lenten Program. Each session will be 30-45 minutes. We will be reading Anne Lamoth's Help, Thanks, Wow. It is available, used or new, from various online and brick-and-mortar stores.
Margaret Thomas stopped by the church office yesterday with information about LA Care.
LA Care is in need of some staples - Peanut Butter and Rice. Also, they would use some substitute
volunteers. If you're interested, please call 512-756-4422.
Update from Jane Scheidler on the Food Pantry in Bertram: "We have recruited SEVERAL new volunteers, which enables us to stay open in the evenings for people who are working and can't make the regular hours of 1-3pm Thursdays. (Sometimes people need a little help before their next paycheck.) The Food Pantry is well-stocked and well-organized. We will now be open 5:30-7 every Thursday!
What we need now is for compassionate eyes and ears in the community to see where the need is. People who are food insecure frequently do not have regular access to Facebook or other electronic media, so we need to reway.ach out the old-fashioned way.
The Bertram Food Pantry is located behind Holy Cross Catholic Church, on 1174 just south of Highway 29. If this evening venture is successful, we hope to expand to another day. We need to keep our volunteers, and see if the need continues."
Thanks to Margaret and Jane and all of the wonderful, caring members of Epiphany for all that they do in the community and for the Epiphany family.
Attendance for Sunday, March 7: 37
Jim and Linda Dyke are scheduled to read the lessons and prayers on Sunday, March 14.
Happy Birthday to: Victoria Bailey (3/16)
Happy Anniversary to: Elizabeth and Bill Drake (3/14) and Kristin and George Picken (3/16)
Peace and Blessings,
Dianne Williams
